Ray Breckon began his IT career as a hardware engineer for Sorbus, progressing through a number of management roles as they were acquired by ICL. A stint as service delivery manager for a large government contract in the North West gave him experience in outsourcing and a move to CSC as service delivery manager for the BAe account. As the contract came up for renewal a new delivery model was required, Ray designed, built and subsequently ran CSC’s first UK delivery centre. Based on CA’s TNG toolset it set the benchmark in service delivery worldwide. Speaking invitations at Gartner CIO events, CA world etc followed as Ray rolled out the model across CSC globally and played a key role in its significant wins. A sales opportunity led to an interim CIO position for a CSC funded startup which created significant value to CSC and the other funding partners.
BT head hunted him in 2003 to build a sales process and pipeline for its Middle Market division, selling traditional outsourcing to medium sized companies. This new division grew from 15 staff to 250 during his tenure.
At HP Ray successfully won a number of large opportunities before being asked to grow the emerging markets in Russia and Israel. This resulted in a number of wins in Israel and HP’s first successful pursuit in Russia.
During his two years at Capgemini Ray was amongst the highest achieving salesmen in the outsourcing division.
